Designed for teens between the ages of 13 and 17, this night is all about relating to each other’s experience with a loved one’s cancer diagnosis and learning how to use fun and helpful mindfulness techniques to address associated emotional and physical stress. Participants will have an opportunity to talk with one another as well as to try out mindfulness techniques from yoga to guided meditation.
The LovingKindness practice will include a 15 minute beginning integration practice of meditation and intention setting, followed by a vinyasa flow that will generate heat within and a hatha practice of holding poses for up to 5 minutes. The emphasis throughout will be on LovingKindness towards self and others as well as understanding our reactions, our mind-body connections, and self-talk throughout the practice. We will conclude our time with a 15 minute period of meditation and savasana. The yoga practice will include a short discussion before our practice and time for questions or processing afterwards. Please dress comfortably and in layers. Warm socks are recommended for putting on your feet during our final meditation and savasana. This practice is suited for any fitness level or ability when modifying for physical needs and comfort.
